Kat McCullough
Cultivating Beauty, Season After Season
Kat McCullough’s journey into gardening and seasonal styling started as a gardener at a private golf course in Newark, Delaware, and as a private estate gardener in picturesque Chadds Ford. Kat further honed her expertise during an impressive 17-year tenure at the famed Longwood Gardens Conservatory.
A highlight of Kat’s career was an immersion in new horticultural techniques at the Royal Botanic Garden in Scotland. Her passion for gardens and travel has taken her across the globe-from exploring stunning botanical landscapes in England and California, to discovering a love for giraffes on a memorable safari in South Africa (a future trip to Giraffe Manor in Kenya is high on her list!).
Kat’s approach to seasonal styling is deeply personal and intuitive. “What makes Terren special,” she says, “is how every design is uniquely tailored to the client’s lifestyle and personal tastes.” Her favorite time to style? Summer, hands down. “It’s the season when we get to introduce vibrant tropical elements-palms, bird-of-paradise, lush textures that make your outdoor spaces truly feel like a luxurious retreat.”
Kat’s advice on the latest trend: “While white containers are elegant and trending right now, never hesitate to embrace color. Bold choices can bring incredible life to your space.”
When not designing stunning containers, Kat enjoys gardening at home, savoring authentic Mexican cuisine at Tequilas in Philadelphia, and settling in with a John Wick movie marathon.
Her most valuable seasonal styling tip: “Skip filling containers with alternate materials like packing peanuts or excess gravel, which can trap water and harm your plants. Just a small layer of gravel at the bottom for drainage, then fill the rest fully with soil. Your plants will thank you.”

Her seasonal styling philosophy is beautifully straightforward: “Start with what you love, and build from there. It’s all about creating joy and ease, making your outdoor space truly your own.”
