Frequently Wondered Questions

Aerial Modern Pool with Sandblasted Marble in Bryn Mawr

Before low voltage lighting, 120v lighting was the standard and required a licensed electrician due to its high voltage, the same as your home’s refrigerator, making it particularly dangerous. In the 1950s, Bill Locklin innovatively applied low voltage car headlight technology to outdoor lighting, making it much safer and eliminating the need for licensed electricians.

With low voltage lighting, homeowners can now safely repair their own lighting or hire a certified professional without needing an electrician. This innovation significantly reduces the risk of 120v electrocution.

Low voltage lighting is safer, more cost-efficient, and easier to install and repair.

Yes! Maybe. Maybe not. It’s entirely dependant on if you value outdoor lightings benefits of safety, aesthetics, and highlighting your landscape investment at night.

If you’ve chosen a beautiful blossoming specimen tree, landscape lighting can enhance its nighttime beauty and color. Why have a landscape you can only enjoy during the day?

A beautifully illuminated deck or pathway often becomes more popular in the evening than during the day. For those who take pride in their home and love being outdoors, landscape lighting is a wise investment.

Our reputation stands on our unwavering commitment to quality, be it in the materials we choose, the designs we conceptualize, or the maintenance services we offer.

When we install your lighting, we’ve guided you to a selection of products that we stand behind, and install them with longevity in mind. We solder and shrink wrap connections, use marine-grade wire, and high quality transformers. Even the post your transformer sits on has been outfitted with a copper cap to avoid rotting, and look great.

A less than great installation will see the use of wire nuts (regardless of being waterproof), cheap landscape wire that will corrode, wire laid at the edge of your beds rather than buried, and undersized transformers.

Smart capabilities are optional. We can install a standard system that is connected to a light switch, a timer, a photocell, or a Lutron enabled smart switch.

If installing a colorscape system, internet will be needed to control the scenes and colors.

It’s the most asked question about any home improvement project. And the answer is always: it depends.

We do not install any lighting systems under $5,000. The cost of our high-end products, extra attention to detail, and 40 years of experience makes us the best option on the Main Line, but never the cheapest option.

When our Clients reach out to us for a project, they can expect an exceptional experience and a quality relationship they can trust for many more years ahead.
